International Finance & Accountancy Jobs in New Zealand

Awesome landscapes, amazing wildlife and a pleasant climate, with a land mass of only 270,000 sq km, New Zealand is also a haven for outdoor activities including; bungee jumping, tramping (hiking), skiing, mountain biking and sailing. A country of rare beauty, dramatic scenery is abundant, with glacial mountains, fast-flowing rivers, native forests, beautiful beaches, deep, clear lakes, hissing geysers and boiling mud. New Zealand enjoys a rich Maori culture – and has an excellent rugby team!

Map of New ZealandDespite New Zealand's immense popularity, it remains unfettered by the crowds you would find elsewhere. The diverse and spectacular landscape has fuelled tourism and because of the islands' geographical isolation, much of the flora and fauna is unique to the country. Almost everything is easily accessible, packed into a land area a little larger than Britain, with half of its population of only 4.2 million tucked away in the three largest cities.

All this no doubt a deciding factor, when Peter Jackson chose New Zealand as the backdrop for his Lord of the Rings trilogy. The same dramatic scenery has been the birthplace for every extreme sport you could care to mention – zorbing, bungee jumping and fly by wire. Queenstown is the focal point for these adrenaline sports, a scenic town on the edge of Lake Wakatipu, being a party town in high season.

The capital of New Zealand, Wellington, offers an unmatched blend of culture, heritage, fine food, and lively arts and entertainment. Surrounded by a rugged coastline and boasting a stunning harbour, Wellington serves up a vibrant inner city experience with a slice of New Zealand scenery. And because of its compact nature, you can sample it all - boutique shopping, art galleries, trendy cafes and restaurants.

New Zealand, a wealthy Pacific nation, is dominated by two cultural groups: New Zealanders of European descent, and the minority Maori, whose Polynesian ancestors arrived on the islands around 1,000 years ago. New Zealand plays an active role in Pacific affairs. It has constitutional ties with the Pacific territories of Niue, the Cook Islands and Tokelau.

Agriculture is the economic mainstay, but manufacturing and tourism are important and there is a fledgling film industry. New Zealand has diversified its export markets and has developed strong trade links with Australia, the US, China and Japan. It is pursuing a free trade deal with China.

A significant amount of New Zealand's electricity is generated by hydropower sources and the country has a range of renewable energy sources at its disposal.
